How we migrate Commerce Cloud to Shopify

Commerce Cloud audit & discovery
Audit of sites, locales, catalogues, price books, cartridges, jobs and integrations in your Salesforce Commerce Cloud environment, plus an SEO baseline crawl of every URL. Output: a decision matrix per feature.

Data mapping & redirects
Catalogues, price books, inventory lists, customers and orders mapped to Shopify objects. A 301 redirect per URL and per locale, including .html paths and old /on/demandware.store/ addresses.

Theme build & Functions
Custom Shopify Plus theme or headless storefront, with Shopify Functions and Checkout UI extensions replacing cartridge logic. Decided per cartridge up front: native, app or custom work.

ERP, PIM, OMS & Salesforce
ERP, PIM, OMS and payments reconnected to Shopify Plus through the GraphQL Admin API or middleware. Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud and Service Cloud stay in use where desired.

Phased launch & monitoring
Dry run with test orders, freeze window, final data sync, DNS switch and redirect activation, phased per market where that is sensible. Launch engineer on standby for 48 hours, 90 days of GSC monitoring.
A Commerce Cloud environment consists of sites, catalogues, price books, cartridges and jobs that have grown over years. We translate every part to its Shopify equivalent and leave behind what only costs maintenance.
- 01
SiteGenesis, SFRA and headless
Whether your storefront runs on SiteGenesis, SFRA or a PWA Kit: the data comes from the same source. We export through site exports and the Commerce API and make a deliberate choice on Shopify between a Liquid theme and a headless storefront.
- 02
Catalogues, price books and inventory
Master catalogue and storefront catalogues become products and collections, price books become prices per market or B2B catalogue, inventory lists become Shopify locations. Variants stay complete: Shopify supports up to 2,048 variants per product.
- 03
Every URL and every locale redirected
Commerce Cloud works with its own URL rules, often with .html endings and locale paths. Per URL and per locale we create a 301 redirect, including old /on/demandware.store/ addresses, and we carry hreflang, meta titles and canonicals across.
- 04
Customers and order history come along
Customer profiles, addresses, customer groups and the complete order history are imported into Shopify, with the link between customer and order intact. For B2B we move accounts to company accounts with their own price lists.
- 05
Cartridges become Functions and apps
We translate custom work in cartridges to Shopify Functions, Checkout UI extensions and apps from the ecosystem. Per cartridge we record up front what becomes native, what becomes an app and what we rebuild.
- 06
Salesforce stays where it is strong
CRM, Marketing Cloud and Service Cloud do not have to move. We connect them to Shopify Plus through the GraphQL Admin API or middleware, so customer data, orders and campaigns keep flowing.
- 07
Cutover per market, without downtime
The new environment is built and tested entirely alongside the existing one. With multiple markets we phase the go-live per country. Freeze window, final data sync and DNS switch in one moment, launch engineer on standby for 48 hours.

Frequently asked questions about Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify migration
Salesforce Commerce Cloud is a powerful enterprise platform, but the cost and the dependency are high: a licence that grows with your revenue, scarce specialist developers and long release cycles. Shopify Plus delivers the same scale with a lower maintenance load, a faster time to market and a broad ecosystem of apps and partners.
In almost every case, yes. Multiple markets, languages and currencies run through Shopify Markets, B2B through company accounts and price lists, custom logic through Shopify Functions and the checkout through Checkout UI extensions. Shopify Plus has ten times the API limits of the standard plans, so heavy ERP and PIM integrations have room as well. Where Shopify does not offer something natively, we name it in the audit.
First an audit of your Commerce Cloud environment: sites, locales, catalogues, price books, cartridges, jobs and integrations. Then we map all data and URLs to Shopify, build the theme or headless storefront, transfer integrations and run a dry run with test orders. The cutover is phased, per market where that is sensible.
Commerce Cloud works with its own URL rules, often with .html endings and locale paths, and older sites still carry addresses with /on/demandware.store/. We map every URL and every locale to its new Shopify URL and turn that into 301 redirects. Meta titles, descriptions, canonicals and hreflang come along. That is how your rankings are preserved in every market.
Per cartridge we decide up front: replace with Shopify-native functionality, with an app, or rebuild as a Shopify Function or Checkout UI extension. LINK cartridges for payments, tax and shipping almost always have a Shopify app as their counterpart. What only existed to work around a limitation of the old platform is left behind on purpose.
Yes. Only the commerce layer moves. We connect Salesforce CRM, Marketing Cloud and Service Cloud to Shopify Plus through the GraphQL Admin API or middleware, so customer data, orders and campaigns keep flowing the way your team is used to.
A migration to Shopify Plus starts at 35,000 euros with us. A project from Salesforce Commerce Cloud, with multiple sites, locales and ERP integrations, generally sits above that. After the audit you get a fixed price, with no open ends.
An average migration to Shopify Plus takes 10 to 14 weeks. A Commerce Cloud environment with multiple sites, B2B and extensive custom logic can run to 16 to 20 weeks. You get a week-by-week schedule up front, with a phased go-live per market where that is sensible.
Yes. If your storefront runs on the PWA Kit today, that line can continue with Hydrogen or your own frontend on the Storefront API. In many cases, however, a Liquid theme is faster to build and easier to manage. We advise the route based on your audit.
