Webfluencer is officially the digital partner of Balmain Hair Couture. In a multi-year collaboration we're rebuilding the full digital ecosystem of the luxury hair brand: from a large-scale migration from Magento to Shopify Plus, to deep PIM integrations and the launch of new sub-brands including the already-live Eau de 1974.
A strategic digital partnership
Balmain Hair Couture, the premium hair brand linked to Maison Balmain Paris, has chosen Webfluencer as both sparring partner and executing agency for its digital transformation. The collaboration spans branding, e-commerce platform, product data and the go-to-market of new labels. It's not a one-off project but a multi-year partnership in which we shape the brand's digital roadmap together.
From Magento to Shopify Plus
The core project is the migration of the global Balmain Hair platform from Magento to Shopify Plus. Magento has served the brand well for years, but the operational complexity and lead times for new features had outgrown the setup. Shopify Plus offers the scale and the speed Balmain Hair needs to power a D2C-first strategy worldwide.
- Full replatforming to Shopify Plus, including migration of orders, customer data and content.
- Multi-store setup for international markets with dedicated language, currency and assortment structures.
- Custom checkout with a B2B flow for partner salons alongside the D2C flow for consumers.
- New storefront on a Hydrogen-style headless setup with Core Web Vitals as a hard KPI.
- Performance-first development: fast pages, smart caching and clean code as the baseline.
PIM integration for scalable product management
Alongside the platform migration we're integrating Balmain Hair's PIM system directly with Shopify Plus. Product information, variants, localizations and imagery are managed centrally and automatically pushed to every storefront. That means one source of truth, faster product launches and consistent content across markets, without the marketing team having to update each country by hand.
Launching new sub-brands
Part of the partnership is launching new sub-brands within the Balmain Hair family. First result: Eau de 1974, a dedicated fragrance label that we took from branding to live site. More labels are already on the roadmap, with a reusable blueprint for branding, design and development so each launch can be faster and stronger than the last.
D2C as the growth engine
The connecting thread of the collaboration is direct-to-consumer. Balmain Hair has historically been deeply rooted in the salon channel and will remain so. The ambition is to strengthen that relationship with a scalable D2C track of its own: first-party data, direct customer relationships, faster product development and more room for storytelling around new sub-labels. Shopify Plus and the PIM integration make that possible on the technical side; the partnership with Webfluencer makes it executable strategically and creatively.
We've worked with Webfluencer for years and know them as a team that thinks in both brands and technology. For the move to Shopify Plus and the rollout of our new labels, they were the logical choice.
